Salay is located on the easten bank of Ayeyarwaddy River, Yenanchaung Township, Magway Region, Myanmar. It is located 36km south of Bagan. It is a place where U Ponnya; one of most celebrated writers, born. It is also a place where beautiful lacquerware manufacture.

Yoke Sone Kyaung

The famous monastery called Yoke Sone Kyaung is a cultural heritage site of Salay. It was built in AD 1882. There are very beautiful artistic work woodcarvings around it and also ancient Buddha image. It also have utensils of Yadanarbon 19 century period and the museum of Myanmar famous writer U Ponnya.

Shin Bin Maha Laba Man Temple

It is situated near Yoke Sone Monastery and this temple contains Myanmar’s biggest Lacquer Buddha image, said to date back to the 13th century.
